When I think about it, I've really not been in the photography business a for a long time. I'm not what you might say a "veteran", but I feel like I'm seasoned since my love of photography started when I was a kid. One of my most prized possessions was a Kodak instant camera.
I started my business in 2020, in the summer, when we didn't think the pandemic would last for two+ years. Instantly I struggled to find a niche. If you're on social media you're no stranger to seeing trends - whether it's fashion or photography. And let's just say I was a sucker for a trend. And to be honest, it made me feel really lost. I knew the steps of taking pictures and capturing those sweet moments, but when it came time to edit them... wowzers I couldn't decide how to do it.

This was my very first photoshoot. My lovely friends Chloe and Jess wanted some updated family photos with little Rosie before she turned one. This was May 2021 I think. I'll forever be grateful for the trust they showed in me back then.

This was my very first wedding! Leah and Tommy were such a sweet couple to work with. I was leaning bright and fresh back then, and I'm glad I've returned to that style.
As I continued on, I still couldn't pick a style. For my personal family photos, I knew who I was going with and how I wanted that to be our style. But I didn't think it was one I could emulate (or wanted to) in my own photography. This photographer I speak of is a true light in the industry and I am so thankful for her.
Any way, again I was faced with trying to figure out how I wanted my photos to look, and my style began to shift again.

It can be hard to find your niche, but I've decided to lean into the style that called to me when I first started: bright, airy, fresh, and fun!
